Paint correctionon the Gold Coast and Tweed

Paint correction is the careful machine polishing of a vehicle’s paintwork to reduce defects such as swirl marks, wash marring, oxidation, haze, water spotting and light scratches. Rather than simply covering imperfections, we refine the clear coat to restore clarity, depth and a cleaner, sharper reflection. What we take out does not come back — but new swirls can still be washed in, so how the car is cleaned afterwards matters.

Single-stage gloss enhancement, carried across from Tweed Mobile Car Detailing, is now the 1-Stage Paint Correction below.

The three levels of correction

Paintwork reflecting cleanly after enhancement

1-Stage Paint Correction

Quoted after we see the paint

Typical correction target: up to 50% defect removal

Our single-stage correction is designed to make a noticeable improvement to paint that has light swirl marks, wash marring, haze and minor imperfections. Using a carefully selected machine polish combination, we refine the paint in one polishing stage to improve gloss, colour and clarity without unnecessarily chasing deeper defects.

This package includes

  • Thorough exterior wash and paint preparation
  • Chemical and mechanical paint decontamination where required
  • Paintwork inspection before machine polishing
  • Single-stage machine polishing
  • Up to 50% paint defect removal, depending on paint condition
  • Final paint inspection and wipe-down
  • Paint sealant applied for short-term protection

2-Stage Paint Correction

Quoted after we see the paint

Typical correction target: up to 75%+ defect removal

For vehicles with heavier swirling, oxidation, haze and more noticeable paint defects, our two-stage correction uses an initial cutting stage followed by a refining polish. This allows us to achieve substantially greater defect removal while restoring a deeper, clearer and more reflective finish.

This package includes

  • Thorough exterior wash and paint preparation
  • Chemical and mechanical paint decontamination where required
  • Paintwork inspection before machine polishing
  • Initial machine cutting stage for heavier defect removal
  • Second-stage refining polish to restore clarity and gloss
  • Up to 75%+ paint defect removal, depending on paint condition
  • Final paint inspection and wipe-down
  • Paint sealant applied for short-term protection

3-Stage Paint Correction

Quoted after we see the paint

Typical correction target: up to 90%+ defect removal where safely achievable

Our most comprehensive correction service is intended for heavily defected paintwork or owners chasing the highest level of finish possible. Multiple machine-polishing stages are used to progressively cut, refine and finish the paint, targeting deeper defects while maximising gloss, depth and optical clarity.

This package includes

  • Thorough exterior wash and paint preparation
  • Chemical and mechanical paint decontamination where required
  • Paintwork inspection before machine polishing
  • Heavy correction/cutting stage where required
  • Secondary polishing and refinement stage
  • Final jewelling/finishing stage for maximum clarity and gloss
  • Up to 90%+ paint defect removal where safely achievable
  • Final paint inspection and wipe-down
  • Paint sealant applied for short-term protection

Paint condition and quoting

All paint correction work is quote only. The appropriate level of correction is determined after inspecting the vehicle’s paintwork in person — that is how we assess defect severity, paint condition, previous repairs and what can be safely achieved before recommending a correction process.

Defect-removal percentages are a guide rather than a guarantee. Some scratches or defects may be too deep to safely remove without compromising the clear coat. Our priority is always to achieve the best possible improvement while maintaining the long-term integrity of the paint.

Who it is for

Whether the goal is to dramatically improve a daily driver, restore neglected paintwork or prepare a vehicle for ceramic coating, our focus is on achieving the best possible finish while preserving the integrity of the paint. Dark and prestige paint shows every mark, so it gains the most.

What is included

  • Paint inspection under focused lighting, and paint-thickness readings where appropriate
  • Chemical and mechanical decontamination before any polishing starts
  • A test spot to set the safest pad and polish combination for your paint
  • One, two or three machine-polishing stages, depending on the level chosen
  • Swirls, holograms, oxidation and light scratches refined out
  • Final inspection under lighting, panel by panel
  • A paint sealant for short-term protection — ceramic coating can be added separately

Why paint correction?

Over time, improper washing, automatic car washes, environmental exposure and general use can leave paint looking dull, hazy and covered in fine scratches. These defects scatter light across the surface, reducing the depth and clarity of the finish.

By carefully refining the clear coat, paint correction restores a cleaner reflection and significantly improves the appearance of the vehicle. It is also the ideal preparation before ceramic coating, as the corrected finish is what will be protected underneath the coating.

How the work is done

Our paint correction process

Correction is a sequence, and skipping any part of it is how paint gets damaged rather than improved. This is the order every car goes through.

  1. Paint inspection and assessment

The paintwork is inspected under focused lighting to identify swirl marks, scratches, oxidation, water spotting, haze and previous repair work. Paint thickness can be measured where appropriate before deciding on the safest correction approach.

  2. Thorough wash and decontamination

The exterior is thoroughly washed before bonded contamination such as iron fallout, tar and other embedded contaminants are removed. Correct polishing starts with a completely clean surface.

  3. Preparation and masking

Sensitive trims, edges and areas that require protection are masked before machine polishing begins.

  4. Test spot and polishing combination

A test section is performed to determine the pad, compound and polish combination that delivers the required level of correction while preserving as much clear coat as possible.

  5. Correction panel by panel

The selected correction process is completed systematically across the vehicle, with additional stages used where required by the chosen correction level.

  6. Refinement and finishing

The paint is refined to remove compounding haze and maximise gloss, depth, colour and clarity.

  7. Final inspection

The vehicle is wiped down and inspected under appropriate lighting to check the finish and ensure consistent results across the paintwork.

  8. Protection

A paint sealant is applied for short-term protection. For customers wanting long-term protection, ceramic coating can be added separately after correction.

Every level of correction follows these steps — what changes between 1-, 2- and 3-Stage is how many polishing passes happen at step five.

Common questions

Paint Correction — answered

How much of the damage can paint correction actually remove?

It depends on the level of correction and on the paint itself. At Anything Auto Detailing a 1-Stage correction targets up to 50% defect removal, a 2-Stage up to 75%+ and a 3-Stage up to 90%+ where that is safely achievable. Those figures are a guide rather than a guarantee — some scratches are too deep to remove without cutting into the clear coat, and we will not chase a defect at the cost of the paint.

How much does paint correction cost?

All paint correction at Anything Auto Detailing is quoted after we have inspected the paintwork in person, because the right level of correction is not something anyone can judge from a photograph. We look at defect severity, paint condition and any previous repairs, then recommend a level and give you the number before any work starts.

Do I need paint correction before a ceramic coating?

A ceramic coating locks in the finish underneath it, so any swirls or haze left in the paint are sealed in with it. Correcting the paint first is what makes a coating worth having on a car that has been on the road, which is why Anything Auto Detailing includes a single-stage enhancement in every coating package and quotes deeper correction separately.

Can I bring my car to your workshop instead of booking mobile?

Yes. Anything Auto Detailing has an indoor workshop in Miami on the Gold Coast, and every service on this site can be done there or at your place. We agree a day, you drop the car in, and you pick it up when the work is finished.
